On September 19, 2026, Maryhill Museum of Art marks a century since its dedication by Queen Marie of Romania, the culmination of a nationally significant royal visit in our nation’s history. Join us for a free public celebration to commemorate the event and the visionary founders of Maryhill Museum of Art.
Conceived by entrepreneur Samuel Hill, dancer and inventor Loïe Fuller, philanthropist Alma de Bretteville Spreckels, and Queen Marie of Romania, Maryhill Museum of Art is shaped by a shared vision of art and wonder in the most unexpected location. “There is a dream built into this place,” said Queen Marie in her 1926 dedication of the museum, “a dream for today and especially for tomorrow.”
This event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate the historic royal visit culminating in the 1926 dedication of Maryhill Museum of Art. Admission is free all day, with access prioritized for registrants pending onsite parking capacity. Festive performances, food and beverages, art and children’s activities, and the museum’s galleries and scenic campus are yours to explore.

What to Expect
Galleries & Grounds
Maryhill’s collections on view span sculpture—including original sculpture by Auguste Rodin—painting, works of art on paper, textiles, decorative arts, Indigenous art, ecclesiastical art, chess sets, and historic objects. The galleries, sculpture park, and grounds are open all day.

Contribute a Memory to Our Time Capsule
We’re preparing a centennial time capsule to be opened at Maryhill’s 200th anniversary in 2126. Would you like your Maryhill memories or mementos to be included? You can purchase a commemorative caplet (only 100 will be sold!) to save a space inside for a century of safe-keeping.

Is admission free?
Yes. Admission to the centennial celebration and museum is free for all visitors from 11am–4pm. Themed food and beverages, commemorative time capsule caplets, and gift shop items are available for purchase on-site.

What is the centennial time capsule?
On September 19, we will sell commemorative caplets for a time capsule that will be opened at Maryhill’s 200th anniversary in 2126. Just 100 caplets will be sold. Fill your commemorative capsule with a personal message or memento and then return your filled caplet to Maryhill Museum of Art within the month of October. You will be invited to the time capsule burial ceremony this November on the museum campus.
Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. Romanian food, fare from Loie’s: The Museum Cafe, non-alcoholic beverages, wine, and a commemorative beer from Working Hands Brewery will be available for purchase.
