Karla Wenzel

Bio

Karla Wenzel and her husband, Fred Miller, live in Lyle, Washington after retiring from Portland General Electric in Portland. In Karla’s early years, she lived in Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, and the Washington, DC area, as her father was in the foreign service. After spending her high school years in Alaska, she came to Oregon to attend Willamette undergraduate and later, Lewis and Clark law school.  She and Fred raised two children in Portland, while also being community-involved. Karla served on the Portland School Board and was a longtime member of the Oregon Food Bank board. Since living in the gorge, she also volunteered with The Dalles migrant education program and is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Klickitat County. Karla is drawn to the Maryhill Museum for its history, collections,  and the important place it fills in our gorge community. In their retired lives, Fred and Karla love to travel internationally.
