Proceeds from ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, and philanthropic gifts will be used toward the purchase of a new Collections Department Freezer. Controlled low temperature treatment, also known as “freezing”, is a routine method to treat selected items being accessioned into museum collections. Used routinely as a preventative measure, the treatment protects the accession and the museum’s existing collections from pests that could degrade or otherwise harm them. With the purchase and installation of a large Collections Department Freezer, Maryhill Museum of Art will be able to process numerous acquisitions to the museum collection, including more than 220 mid-twentieth century European and American hats donated to the museum in 2023.
