Summer Art Institute 2025

Maryhill Museum of Art: Summer Art Institute 2025

Theme: Art in Context and Cultural Awareness

Dates: July 14th, 15th, 16th & 17th 8:30am – 4pm.

Join us for an inspiring four-day professional development opportunity at the Maryhill Museum of Art’s Summer Art Institute. Designed for educators, artists, and lifelong learners, this immersive workshop explores the intersection of art, culture, history, and science through hands-on experiences, dynamic presentations, and collaborative dialogue.
Participants will delve into a wide variety of artistic mediums and methods—painting, Gelli plate printmaking, illustration, bookmaking, and more—while gaining new insights into art history and Maryhill’s unique collections. This year’s theme, Art in Context and Cultural Awareness, invites participants to reflect on the ways in which art reflects, preserves, and challenges cultural narratives across time and place.
The Institute features presentations and workshops led by professional artists and educators, including painters, weavers, illustrators, art historians and the museum’s curator of art. Highlights include a behind-the-scenes studio visit with a working artist, and ample opportunities to engage in hands-on art making.
Whether you’re a classroom teacher, librarian, retired art educator, or practicing artist, the Summer Art Institute offers a welcoming environment to explore new ideas, build community, and deepen your connection to the arts.

28 Clock hours/pdu’s available for participating educators.

Space is limited—early registration is encouraged.
Cost: $240 members, $280 non-members (materials fee included).
