Event Details
Ekphrastic means “art inspired by art.” This day is about combining the art of language with the visual arts. Bring a poem, or plan to create a poem, that somehow connects to an artwork at Maryhill Museum of Art. This can be your favorite poem, one written by you or anyone else. At 1 p.m., or any time prior to the day, arrive at Maryhill Museum of Art and explore the galleries for the object that most closely connects to your poem OR find a work of art that is inspirational and create a new poem specific to that work. At 2 p.m. we will gather in the Education Center then visit the chosen artworks. Each participant will read their poem followed by a group discussion on connections and meanings.
