SUMMARY:Damien Gilley – Vista Vista Exhibition Reception
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, August 9 from 2-4 pm with remarks by Damien Gilley and Curator of Education Sorcha Meek Paul.\nAbout the Exhibition\nVista Vista is a visual celebration of the Columbia Gorge in a large-scale mural, interpreting the landscape through a lens of graphic abstraction and the photographic lens. Sightlines and vistas reinforce the viewer as a lone perceiver, continuously seeking vantage points that illuminate nature’s scale, perspectives, and complexity. The work is a collage of imagery stored in digital memory, an architecture that attempts to reconstruct an expansive natural landmark.\nAbout Damien Gilley\nDamien Gilley is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and art director in Portland, Oregon. His work creates perceptual moments that transforms sites. Projects include architectural interventions, stage set design, installations, activations, large scale wall works and art exhibitions.\nHis work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including Sharjah Art Museum (United Arab Emirates), Tetem Kunstruimte (Enschede, Netherlands), Dam Stuhltrager (Berlin), MARC (Kivik, Sweden), Suyama Space (Seattle), Las Vegas Art Museum, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art (Omaha, NE), Arthouse (Austin), The Belfry (New York), the Art Museum of South Texas (Corpus Christi), and in Portland at Rocksbox, Linfield College, Wieden+Kennedy, the American Institute of Architects, the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and the Portland 2010 Biennial, among others.\nHis work has been reviewed by Artforum.com, Designboom.com, Vice Creators Project, Juxtapose.com, New York Times Arts Beat, The Seattle Weekly, the Oregonian, the Las Vegas Review Journal, the Austin Chronicle, Frame Magazine (Amsterdam), IdN magazine (Hong Kong) and New American Paintings.\nVisit DamienGilley.com to learn more >>\nVista, Vista is on view from August 9-November 15, 2025 in the M.J.
