Museum Policies

  • Maryhill Museum of Art welcomes all visitors and is committed to making its programs and exhibitions accessible to everyone. For details on accessibility, click here.
  • Visitors are required to check all backpacks, briefcases, umbrellas, and other parcels larger than 11″ x 14″ at the entrance desk.
  • Food and drink are permitted only in Loie’s: The Museum Café, and may not be carried into the galleries. Except for sanctioned catered events, outside food and drinks are not allowed in Loie’s. Picnic tables are available in shaded areas throughout the gardens.
  • We invite you to shoot photos and videos for your personal, noncommercial use during your visit unless otherwise indicated. No tripods, monopods, or flash lighting please.
  • Sketching is welcome in the galleries with dry media (pencil only). No easels or sketching while sitting on the floor is permitted. While sketching, please do not hinder visitor traffic flow in the galleries. During periods of high attendance, the museum reserves the right to make any necessary adjustments to this sketching policy.
  • Press, commercial, or special photography permissions: Please register at the admissions desk or contact Maryhill Public Relations office at maryhill@maryhillmuseum.org.
  • Maryhill Museum of Art reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce images of objects in its collection.
  • Young children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Animals are not allowed in the museum. (Service animals are permitted.) Please do not leave animals in your car. Summer temperatures can exceed 100 degrees at Maryhill; even on a mild day, a car’s interior can become overheated in a matter of minutes. Please leave pets at home.
  • We encourage you to engage with the art presented in the museum, but please avoid touching artworks; they are fragile and the natural oils on your skin could damage the surface.
