Family Programs

Throughout the season, Maryhill offers a variety of special events and programs aimed at children and their families. In addition to the programs below, families with children of all ages will find a host of ways to explore Maryhill.

Wild West Family Day

Join in the fun at Maryhill’s annual Members’ Appreciation Day. Take the family on a drive on the amazing Maryhill Loops Road between 10 a.m. and noon to enjoy one of the first modern roads in the Northwest. Eat lunch at Loie’s: The Museum Cafe, or bring your own picnic to enjoy in the sculpture garden. Take in the views and the collections in the galleries. From 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. families are invited to play a game of horseshoes, create pictograph paintings on rocks to take home and create a woven sculpture using natural materials. Don’t forget to stay for the BBQ Dinner at 4:00 p.m. (Tickets required for dinner; to reserve, call 509.773-3733 ext. 20.)

Worldwide Knit in Public Day

Bring your whole family, a ball of yarn, your knitting needles or crochet hook and join Maryhill for Worldwide Knit in Public Day! Leave a square at Maryhill and receive a postcard from our collection! Free with museum admission.

La Blouse Roumaine

This world-wide event celebrates the Romanian culture. Take a Romanian-focused family tour through the Maryhill Galleries to find inspiration, then try your hand at embroidering a Romanian-inspired design on materials right for your skill level. Free with museum admission.

Loïe Fuller in the Garden / Starry Night at the Museum

This family friendly event will engage your family all day and all night. In the afternoon, family activities will involve dancing like Loïe Fuller, arts and crafts, and a performance of a Loïe-inspired dance by Gonzaga University dance students. Then pitch your tent and stay with us all night in Maryhill’s garden while Rose City Astronomers show us the heavens through powerful telescopes. Cost for Tent or RV Campsite: $50 members  / $60 non-members. Stargazing only and Loïe activities are free outside; inside activities are free with museum admission. Day of the Dead Family Celebration

Remember and rejoice our family members, past, present and future, while we also celebrate the end of Maryhill’s season. Join us for a slice of cake, art-making and learning about this important Mexican holiday. Free with museum admission.
