APRIL

Poem in Your Pocket Day…Ekphrastic style!
Thursday, April 26, 2018

Poem in Your Pocket Day was established by the Academy of American Poets as an annual event to bring poetry into our everyday lives. Show us a poem in YOUR pocket on April 26 and receive free museum admission. You can also share your poem during our Afternoon Open Mic (1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the museum’s M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust Education Center). This year, visitors are invited to channel their inner bard and create an original poem inspired by artworks from the Maryhill collection. Come early and visit the galleries or explore our collections online. Or you can select an existing poem to match with a work in Maryhill’s collection. Keats’ Ode on a Grecian Urn is a famous example of an ekphrastic poem.
