Indian Trade Blanket Appraisal Clinic with Barry Friedman

Commercially woven woolen trade blankets have been standard attire and cherished gifts in Indian country for generations. PendletonWoolen Mills has set the standard for making these beautiful blankets for more than a century. Barry Friedman of Phoenix, Arizona, and author of Chasing Rainbows: Collecting American Indian Trade & Camp Blankets, will be at Maryhill to provide free appraisals of vintage trade blankets woven by Pendleton, Oregon City, Capps, Racine and other blanket manufacturers.

Two blankets maximum per person. Free with museum admission.

Art Workshop: Capturing the Light

Spend a day drawing and painting en plein air on the museum's new Grand Plaza. Artist Nancy Klos will lead participants in working with color pencils, ink pens and gauche.

Workshop: Handbuilding Ceramic Sculpture with Toms Royal

This three day workshop explores slabwork clay techniques. The workshop days are widely space to allow clay work to dry.
